NRG (Nuclear Research and consultancy Group) is the nuclear centre of competence in the Netherlands. NRG was established in 1998 through the merger of ECN’s and KEMA’s nuclear science and technology activities. NRG develops knowledge, processes and products for safe applications of nuclear technology in energy, environment and health. This includes products, services and technologies for safe and economic operation of existing nuclear power plants and future sustainable nuclear energy systems.

Within this project NRG will investigate the structure of irradiated graphite compared to virgin graphite (WP3), recycling of irradiated graphite (WP5) and the leaching of ceramics for embedding spent fuel (WP6). The main part of this work will be performed in the radiological laboratories in Petten.
