Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (Pty) Ltd (PBMR) is a nuclear engineering and design company based in Centurion near Pretoria, South Africa. �The PBMR is a high temperature, gas-cooled reactor, which can be combined with different power conversion systems for electricity and steam production. Although it is not the only gas-cooled high-temperature reactor currently being developed in the world, the South African project is internationally regarded as a leader in the global high temperature reactor technology. The PBMR is characterised by inherently safe features, which mean that no human error or equipment failure can cause an accident that would harm the public.� The technology also has process-heat applications.�
